Positions may be based in skilled nursing, long-term care or rehabilitation facilities, with certain hospital assignments depending on staffing needs and qualifications.

Compensation and benefits

Indicative base pay: $23.00–$29.00 per hour, depending on experience, facility, and shift assignment.  At 36–40 paid hours per week, that equates to approximately $43,056–$60,320 in annual base earnings before overtime or shift differentials. Final pay will be confirmed for the specific position.

For eligible full-time employees, the benefit package may include:

•  Medical coverage: health insurance, with dental and vision plan options.

•  Paid leave: PTO or vacation accrual, paid sick leave, and applicable holiday pay or holiday differentials.

•  Retirement savings: 401(k) or comparable employer plan; matching contributions where offered.

•  Shift compensation: evening, night, weekend or holiday differentials when applicable; overtime paid under applicable law.

•  Training and development: paid orientation, ongoing in-service education, and opportunities to strengthen clinical support skills.

•  Additional programs, where offered: life insurance, employee assistance or wellness programs, and tuition or continuing-education assistance.

Work schedule

This is a full-time, on-site role with a typical schedule of 36–40 paid hours per week. Depending on the department, shifts may be 8 or 12 hours and may include day, evening, or overnight coverage. Availability for rotating weekends and selected holidays is expected. Exact shift patterns and department assignments are confirmed during the hiring process.

Key responsibilities

•  Assist patients and residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, meals, hydration and personal comfort.

•  Support safe mobility, ambulation, transfers and repositioning using approved techniques and assistive equipment, following patient-specific care instructions.

•  Obtain and document routine vital signs, weights, intake/output or other assigned observations; promptly communicate unusual findings to licensed nursing staff.

•  Observe and report changes in comfort, behavior, skin condition, mobility or overall well-being; escalate urgent safety concerns without delay.

•  Assist with fall-prevention measures, infection-control practices, patient privacy, room readiness, and maintaining clean and safe care areas.

•  Complete assigned care records or electronic charting accurately and on time, while following established nursing care plans, facility protocols and CNA scope of practice.

•  Work collaboratively with nurses and the broader care team, demonstrating professionalism, patience and respect toward patients, residents and families.

Qualifications and requirements

•  Required certification: current, active California CNA certification in good standing, issued by the California Department of Public Health.

•  Life-support training: current CPR/BLS certification, or ability to meet the hiring facility’s requirement before the first shift; American Heart Association BLS preferred.

•  Experience preferred: at least one year of recent CNA experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation or acute care; familiarity with direct patient care and routine clinical documentation is strongly valued.

•  Core competencies: sound infection-prevention practices, safe patient handling, accurate observation and reporting, and ability to prioritize care needs during a busy shift.

•  Professional expectations: dependable attendance, clear English communication for patient safety and documentation, discretion, teamwork, and a service-oriented approach.
